Swardman Delivers the Electra 2.0 Lawn Mower to the Pope
The Czech manufacturer of premium reel mowers, Swardman, has today ceremonially presented a specially crafted Swardman Electra 2.0 to Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City.
The Electra model designed for the Vatican features an elegant white finish and was configured to perfectly meet the specific mowing needs of the Vatican Gardens – from the cutting width and number of blades to the specification of the front and rear rollers.
The mower will be used in the Vatican Gardens, which are among the most meticulously maintained green spaces in the world. Its operation and maintenance will be handled by the gardeners of the Vatican.
Czech Precision in the Service of the Vatican
With this project, Swardman joins a select group of companies whose products have found a place in the Vatican Gardens – a site renowned for its long-standing tradition of aesthetics, tranquility, and spiritual harmony.

The custom-made Electra 2.0 mower was created through close collaboration between Swardman’s design and production teams. The grass catcher bears the Coat of Arms of the Holy See, symbolizing the union of tradition, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. The Electra 2.0 was chosen primarily for its silent operation, precise cut, and timeless elegance, all of which perfectly complement the atmosphere of the Vatican Gardens.
“It is a tremendous honor for us that the Vatican’s lawns will now be maintained by a Czech-made Swardman mower. This moment represents recognition of our team’s years of work and confirms that even a small Czech company can achieve a global reach. Swardman has always stood for calm, harmony, and integrity – and those are precisely the values that this moment symbolizes,”
says Michael Suchanka, CEO of Swardman.
Technological and Aesthetic Perfection
The Swardman Electra 2.0 is the quietest fully electric reel mower in its class. It combines modern electric drive, handcrafted precision, minimalist design, and exceptional cutting accuracy. Each unit is hand-assembled and tested at Swardman’s production facility in Šardice, Moravia, where innovation meets traditional craftsmanship.
The personalized Vatican edition is a one-of-a-kind piece that will not be released for standard production. The gardeners of the Vatican will thus be using a unique original, built exclusively for their needs.
