Reel Sharpening

The reels of Swardman mowers are sharpened by us using our own, top-quality grinding machines. Thanks to the specially treated steel from which the reels are manufactured, we can restore a perfect cutting edge even on slightly damaged ones. With standard regrinding, a reel has a life of 10 cycles (10 years if the reel is sharpened once a year).
 
The wear rate of the reel depends on many factors – mowing height, cleanliness of the lawn, intervals of adjustment by the user and whether he protects the reel with organic oil, frequency of mowing and, of course, the area of the lawn, or motor hours driven.

In case of mowing areas over 10,500 sqft or more twice a week, we recommend having the reel sharpened twice a year. The bedknife is replaced every time the reel is sharpened.

Important notes:

• In addition to the price of grinding itself, the customer must add the cost of shipping of the reel from our service center back to his/her address – the price for this is $35.
• The reel must be properly packed to avoid damage during its transport to the service center.
• The cost of transport of the reel to our service center is paid by the customer.
